linux does not start up all the way. stays on the startup logo.

I download the appliance from this site. The player loaded the guest os just fine. i changed the following; username and password.

changed the display from 1900X?? to 1280X800. i restarted the guest os and now the screen just stays at startup screen.

i see all the bootup commands going to the screen...any ideas?? this is my first shot at vmware and linux.

i also modified the memory in the config file from 512 to 1024....and then changed it back. i also installed opera for linux.
