Hi
from a VM, how do I access the host file system? I am running a Windows XP VM on a Windows XP host machine.
I am sure that I used to be able to click on "my network places" and ".hostShared folders on .host", and then be able to access the host file system - but now I just get the message "
.host\Shared Folders is not accessible".
Thanks,
Peter
The VMware Shared Folders feature is NOT enabled in Player. Use standard Windows network file sharing instead (you get the added benefit of much greater stability, too).
Hi Peter,
You will need to use the standard Microsoft File sharing using the network.
Hi, thanks for the replies. I found out that I when I have my laptop (where I run my windows XP + VM) at work then I can connect from the VM to the host OS (via windows file sharing) - but if I am at home then I cannot connect to the host OS? What causes this? Is there some sort of effect caused by what network the host OS is connected to?
Thanks, Peter
