I'm using Workstation Player 16.2.3 on Windows 10 21H2.
In a fresh Linux Mint 20.3 xfce guest OS, in the initially-created admin user, dragging and dropping files between the host and guest do work. Copying and pasting also do work. However when I create a new OS user, be it a new admin or normal user, drag and drop as well as copy-paste don't work for them. Why is that?
After updating and upgrading all installed packages, the OS has the following packages installed:
- open-vm-tools 2:11.2.5-2ubuntu1mint1
- open-vm-tools-desktop 2:11.2.5-2ubuntu1mint1
I tried the command vmtoolsd -n vmusr in the console from users other than the original ones, it doesn't seem to do anything, the problem persists.
The problem is worse in a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 OS. For the original user, copy and paste works, but not dragging and dropping. For other user accounts, nothing works, same problem as above for Mint.
Could someone tell me what the problem may be? Thank you in advance.
