access an os from an old HDD with player [Solved]

I recently purchased a larger hdd and loaded win 7 x64.  I have my old HDD connected as a secondary drive.  Is there a way to boot the old install through player?

I tried connecting to the physical disk as shown, removed the drive letter assignments, but it I get the error below when I try to boot up.

you hit a years old flaw in Workstation

on post Vista-hosts the physical disk feature is broken.

You must set the second disk to be offline with diskpart before you assign it to a virtual machine

Have a look at: LockDismount v0.3.0.0 [Update] - reboot.pro

Download: LockDismount v0.3.0.0

For the other issue just create an empty folder at the path shown in the error message.

I got it to work.  Not only did i have to set the disk offline, I had to set the volumes offline as well.
