Workstation Player bundle for 16.2.3 on a clean install fails while in "configurating" mode

Using this

VMware-Player-Full-16.2.3-19376536.x86_64.bundle

on

Linux fedora 5.16.18-100.fc34.x86_64 (and 2 other predecessors)

I deleted all of the previous vmware configuration files.

It should be using defaults for all configuration data but there must be missing or incorrect default data for some of the modules.

Bundle installer starts but hangs at 47% while in configuration.  Appears to timeout then complete with
