I downloaded VMware Workstation for the specific purpose of playing a game with deprecated DirectX functions. However the VM does not recognize the virtual CD drive that has been added to it, which means I cannot install VMware Tools or actually play the game. The laptop that the VM is being run on does not have a physical CD drive, and as a result when the guest machine reboots the CD drive disconnects. Is the lack of a physical CD drive on my host machine affecting the capabilities of the guest???
