Windows 8 CP does not shut down

In latest vmware player Windows 8 CP oft i can not shut down, just power off machine. What is to be done?

What do you mean you cannot shutdown? even from the settings > power > shutdown?

Install vmware tools first and let us know if the problem would stilll exist.

Guest shutdown is only possible with VMware Tools installed in the guest, because guest shutdown is initiated by VMware Tools. The discussion you mentioned also contains the solution (not installing video drivers) for the current version of VMware Tools in combination with Windows 8.
