Hey guys,
I have installed Windows 2008 Enterprise Server x64 with hardware assisted support / virutalization support as guest in Win7.
The OS crawls. Its so slow. I have give n it 2 Cores with 1.5GB of RAM.
Is it something to do with hardware assisted support or somethign else?
Any help will be appreciated.
thanks

Can you explain what that means ? - where did you set that options ?
Using 2 virtual CPUs only makes sense if your host is at least a quad core - if your host has 2 cvores only better reduce amount of vCPUs.
And 2008 64bit is always a resource hungry beast

Hi,
Thanks for replying. When I was installing x64 OS, I got warning from VmWare Player that I can go to BIOS and enable virualization option. In my BIOS it said "Enable Virtualization". So I enable that and Win 2008 installed. but its crawling very badly.
So I am wondering is it due to this hardware assisted virtualization that my OS is somhow slow? becuase other guest OS 32bit are running fine.
Which raises another question, in real world environment we want to virtualize couple of Windows servers on one machine, how do they achieve performance in such environments?
I see - checking that option in the BIOS of your host is required - otherwise no 64bit guest would run at all.
If you post the latest vmware.log from that VM we can check if you can improve performance by using a better configuration
