Win 7 with XP Guest. Do I need to add AHCI Driver for Sata SSD ?

Totally new to VM's. Running Win 7 Pro 64 and want to install XP Pro as guest. I currently dual boot XP/Win 7 with an iso XP disk that has AHCI driver slipstreamed. My question is do I need to 'pre install' the AHCI driver to be able to use my Sata SSD and DVD Drive or does the VM Player use the host Sata controller.

I searched and only saw reference to VMware SCSI driver which I thought was 'Old' technology. Just wanted to make sure I run the most up to date Virtual XP. Also any rules of thumb for SSD's ?

I'm doing th same and I have not need to load any drivers into the XP guest OS. You do need to install the VMware tools and it will prompt you to do that.

Have fun.

PS if you want to try out an OS like Apples OS X try Linux Mint.

The GUI of Linux Mint is nothing like that of Mac OS X!  If anything it has more of the look and feel of Windows.
