Hello,
I am wondering why VMware as a company is not distributing the VMware tools for VMware player. Instead I have seen instructions in forums, that you should get them from e.g. workstation package.
If they are available, why not to make it easy for users?
I would need VMware tools for Subunit 6.10. I tried to use VMware tools from Workstation 5.5.0, but the installation aborts, because X version is not known by the vmware-config-tools.pl
Thanks,
Vesa
The basic reason is that Player is designed for end-users to Play (run) virtual machines already created by someone else - who (hopefully) had the sense to install the Tools when they created that VM.

Do you mean Ubuntu 6.10?
If so, you should have used VMware Workstation 5.5.3
