When will VMware Player can be installed with Linux Kernel 3.12

When will VMware Player can be installed with Linux Kernel 3.12?

I want to install vmplayer on my arch linux(kernel3.12),but it seems that vmplayer doesn't support kernel3.12 yet.

VMware per their corporate policy does not discuss or announce such information and you'll have to wait until a supported release occurs or try finding a workaround using a 3rd party patch or just use a supported kernel! Smiley Wink

Have a look at: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VMware

It  definitely depends on your distribution.  I don't know about  Arch but it does  have extensive documentation so check the Arch Wiki.  On Ubuntu however your can  definitely install WS 10 (and thus VMware Player)  on kernel 3.12 - grab the kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/.  Install the "all" headers, then the x64 headers  and then the image in that order (sudo dpkg -i <package name> deb.

I'm not sure  exactly what VMware means by WS 10 working with all " modern" kernels - that  should include 3.12 because that is stable - however may it was not with WS 10 release in October.
