Vmware using a lot of host memory (or at least cache)

After runing VMware player with Win 7 Ultimate as a guest for under 30 mintues, my memory/cache usage pegs (I have 8GB on host and set the guest to the default 1GB) Seems like there is a memory leak or something. It slowly climbs over 10-20 mintues. memory usage is that red and yellow graph in the upper task bar.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brad

1gb is the minimum

you should give it at least 2gb if not 4gb

Yes, for optimal performance but that doesn't mean he should have memory leak problem if it is given 1gb. Is that possible You are using old betta release of se7en?

I know Win 7 wants more than 1 GB memory, but VMWare recommended 1 GB and I figured it would know (I started using 2GB and it still does the same thing). I have no memory/leak problems when using Virtual Box. I wanted to try VMWare beacuase of the significantly better video performance.

The amount of memory I pick for the guest shouldn't cause the Host memory to max out at all, let alone in 10-20 minutes.

I am using the current Windows 7 Ultimate, not any pre-release beta or anything.

I did have to use this patch http://weltall.heliohost.org/wordpress/2012/01/26/vmware-workstation-8-0-2-player-4-0-2-fix-for-linu... to get it to work with Ubuntu 12.04.
