Vmtools do not work in ubuntu 18. I've installed them several times. I cannot stretch the screen or cut and paste into windows in Ubuntu from the host Windows 10. I do not think shares work either.
Are you talking about using the “legacy” VMware Tools for Linux packages from VMware, or the open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop packages provided by a Linux distribution?
