VmWare Player Hangs "My Computer" on XP-Pro

Hello All,

I have installed VmWare Player on a new HP 6830s Laptop running XP-Pro SP3. After installation all seems to be running OK and I can run the VmMachines I have installed (2 other XP Pro machines) however after rebooting, when I start "My computer" at the top level the it hangs in a search mode. I can click on "Folders" and switch to "My Documents" and it works. But if I return to "My Computer" it goes back into the searching "Flashlight" mode and stays there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same symptoms on HP Elitebook 6930p, Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600, Service Pack 3, interestinglysimilar setup to yours, smpreg.

Installing VMWare Player 3.0.0 build-203739 + rebooting causes this. Uninstall fixes it. I suspect the problem has something to do with the network tweaks the player installer does...

Anyone solved this kind of problem? Would like to use VMWare but this problem makes it impossible.
