VMware workstation player 16 (only 1 of 4 allocated cpu cores working)

On the left, you can see I allocated 4 cores and in the middle, it shows only 1 (even at a lower clock speed than expected) and that always runs at 100%. On the right side, you can see the host CPU.

Your guest OS does not seem to support 4 CPUs (sockets).

Since you are using Workstation Player, the GUI doesn't offer the option to define Cores-per-Socket. However, you can edit the VM's configuration (.vmx) file manually, and set/edit the following options:

numvcpus = "4"
cpuid.coresPerSocket = "4"

This will present the 4 vCPUs as a single 4-core vCPU to the guest OS.

Please make sure that Workstation Player is closed while editing the file.
