VMware cannot defrag

Hi experts!

I have w7, and vmware player. I am trying to defrag one of my VM and i got this dialog Defragmentation failed: Insufficient permission to access file.

I have added in my user account to _vmware_ group, and restarted the computer. And I still have this same problem.

Any ideas?

Try to start VMware Player by right clicking and "Run as Administrator" to see whether this works.

I just found out somehting.

When i try to defrag a VM Hard Disk which is (SCSI), i was able to defrag it.

But on the other hand if it is Hard Disk (IDE), i cannot defrag it.

Anybody know how to solve this?

If i have to go to a VM SCSI, how do i do it?

What's the guest OS you are running? It might be possible to convert the IDE disk to a SCSI disk if there are drivers available for the guest.
