VMware Workstation instalation log error

The operating system on my host computer is Kali. I downloaded and installed the workstation file from the official website and ran the file to install VMware Player. When I ran VMware player to continue with the instillation an error comes up for compiling the modules which says "Unable to install all modules. See log /tmp/vmware-kali/vmware-4965.log for details (Exit code 1)"

What must I do to complete instillation?

And I'm having the same issues on MX Linux 21.2

What I discovered was that I was using the wrong kernel, once I got the right one installed it worked without a problem.
