VMware Workstation: Sending CTRL TAB and CMD + TAB to guest

Hi,

I have an Ubuntu 22.04 machine where I installed VMWARE workstation. I created a debian 11 VM and almost everything works except for keyboard shortcuts. I have dual monitor setup and I have the Debian VM running in full screen on one of the monitors. When I click on the VM, it is able to capture all keyboard or mouse inputs except for shortcuts that are configured on the host machine.

For instance, the Ubuntu host maps CTRL + TAB to cycle through open windows and CMD/Windows + TAB to cycle through open applications. When I press this combination inside the VM, the input still goes to host. I tried pressing CTRL+G to "grab" the input from the host but it doesnt' work.

I can try and re-map the keyboard shortcuts, but wondering if there's another way to get this working properly? why does CTRL+G not not capture all keypresses?
