VMDK & VMX problems

I have a VMDK file of my old hard drive.

I'm trying to open it in VMware player.

It looks like it will only open VMX files?

Or do I need both files?

Step by step explanation would be most appreciated!![Any vids out there?]

You need both. You can try copy other .vmx file elsewhere (most identical better) and edit it so that it will use your VM vmdk.
