VM window does not recognize keyboard

Installed VMWare Player 3.1.4 (CPU not adequate for 4 or 5).  Host is XP Pro.  Want to create VM for Win98.  VM creates just fine, but VMwindow accepts no input from the keyboard (PS/2), so cannot choose CD-ROM.

Also concerned that my Win98 CD is not the bootable type... requires use of a startup floppy (I have one).

Finally stumbled my way through all that and have 98 SE working fine, but no sound.  When I try to run the PCI128 driver EXE, I immediately get a message that a required .DLL is missing (and the name given is just .DLL).  This same EXE will launch just fine on a computer running 98 SE.

If I set the 98VM to use the actual sound card (Audigy 2 ZS) and run the appropriate driver, it acts like everything is fine but eventually says that there is no Audigy 2 ZS detected.
