VM and Flash Drive

Can anyone help me with this. that is if it possible.

I would like to place a VMPLAYER and a VMmachine onto a Flash drive.

My intent to to be able to plug into a pc that does not have any VM software installed and run the VM player as and them the vm machine from the flash drive.

Maybee in conjuntion with thinapp?

It's not really possible as such, with any VMware product out there.  Yes, you can have a VM on a flash drive and run it from there; but the Software needs to be installed on the PC you want to run it on.  The older PocketACE product came close.

The best alternative is to use a LiveCD - see Ulli's MOA project http://sanbarrow.com

What I have been doing is keep a copy of the VMplayer install on the same flash drive as the VM, then if I go to a new PC i just install the player, reboot and use the VM.

Yes, that works... and is basically what PocketACE did.  However, this requires 2 things:  1, the user must have admin rights on the PC to install the software; 2, the owner of the PC must allow software to be installed.  If you are at a public PC, these things are typically not possible.
