Unable to display VM on more than one monitor using VMware Workstation 17 Player

I am using VMware Workstation 17 Player to run Windows 10. The host machine has 3 monitors, but I am unable to get the VM to display on more than one monitor.

Steps taken:

  1. Enter fullscreen mode.

  2. Click "choose a monitor layout" icon.

  3. Choose any layout that utilizes more than one monitor.

Nothing happens when I click any other layout. It may be worth noting that most of my display settings in Manage -> Virtual Machine Settings are grayed out. The only option that is not grayed out is Display scaling.

I did some research, and someone suggested disabling the service "VMware SVGA Helper Service" and restarting the VM, but that did not fix the issue for me.

Can anyone offer some help please?

I think you might need to try these steps:

  • Power off the virtual machine.
  • Go to Manage > Virtual Machine Settings in VMware Workstation.
  • Under the Hardware tab, select "Display."
  • Check "Specify monitor settings" and increase the number of monitors.
  • Save the settings and start the virtual machine again
