Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone else was running into issues where VMWare was unable to install the kernel module on my Fedora 35 machine.
I get the following error message when I try to let VMWare install the kernel modules: "Unable to install all modules. See log /tmp/vmware-thomasa/vmware-23576.log for details. (Exit code 1)"
I attached the logs in case anyone wants to see it.
Hi, I have a fedora 35 5.16.5-200.fc35.x86_64 try this works for me
know what is your kernel version?: uname -r.
know your Vmware version or install the latest: vmware --version
Prerequisite
pd. Based on your VMware product, replace “12.2.1” with your installed version and/or “workstation” with “player”.
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
systemctl restart vmware.service
Have fun...
Thank you! I'm able to access my Manjaro VM again! I'm going to assume that I'll have to do this manually each time when there is a kernel update, right?
For anyone else that is running into the same problem that I did:
For some reason, I don't have the vmware commend on my machine, but you can also check through the log files located in /tmp/vmware-[YOUR USERNAME]/
vmware-modconfig fails for me when I try to use it, but I was to get VMWare working without it (just make sure to reset the vmware.service)
