Ubuntu host - ext4 filesystem corruption

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 as a Vmware player 3.1 host.   Every time I run a guest OS, usually Windows XP, I have massive filesystem corruption to the host ext4 filesystem.  I've run the S.M.A.R.T. tests on the storage and it comes back clean.  I've found some similar bug links (below) but they all seem to reference qemu-kvm not Vmware.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thank you
