USB passthrough won't stick on VMWare Workstation Player

I'm using VMWare workstation player 17.02 (the free version).

I run Home Assistant inside of it.

I have a Zooz 800LR Z-Wave USB stick that I need to use inside the VM.

While my VM is running, I go to Player / Removable devices / QinHeng 800 Z-Wave stick and check the device. It immediately starts working in the VM.

The problem is, if the VM is terminated and then restarted (for example because the host is restarted), the VM comes back up without the USB passthrough for this device.

Is there a way to make this sticky like, say, what happens in the free edition of Virtualbox ?

Or is this a feature unavailable in the Player edition ? And if so, is it available in Pro ?

Edit: I installed Pro (free trial) and am having the exact same problem. The USB device just won't automatically attach to the VM when it boots.

Some kind member of the Home Assistant community told me how to do it :

It works on the free version of VMWare, so I downgraded to that.
