TortoiseSVN and Shared Folder

I'm using CentOS 5.4 x86_64 host OS and Windows XP SP3 as guest and I am getting an error in Tortoise while checking out:

Error: Can't create directory 'S:\Shared\Subversion\.svn': Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

This is some kind of race condition because the .svn folder didn't exist prior to starting the checkout. I saw there was a similiar issue with the Mac Fusion product about a year ago, possibly the fix didn't get carried over to the VMPlayer product.

Another thing that may be causing an issue is that the Subversion server is only accessible via VPN, so a VPN is established when the checkout occurs and obviously the Shared Folder is a network based mapped drive 'S:'.

Thanks!
