Shrink VMDK running on SSD disk when disk is not big enough.

Hi, I'm running a Windows 7 VM on a Windows 8 SSD drive (only drive I have).

Inside the VM the used space is ~ 70GB only (2 partitions c & d).

The MBR is 121GB.

I need to shrink the VM down to that space. Right now it takes up 93GB.

However when I try to shrink inside the VM with vmware tools I get the message "Failed to shrink... There is not enough space on the file system for the selected operation."

Is there a way to shrink anyway without copying the VM to a large enough external drive?

Thanks

Short of having the necessary required free space for the shrink operation to work properly, no! Smiley Wink
