Setting SMBIOS.reflectHost = "TRUE" in the .vmx file doesn't seem to alter the DMI info the guest OS sees. Instead it causes a warning in the VM's log:
[timestamp] Wa(03) vcpu-0 Host: can't find host SMBIOS entry point
Both host and guest OSes are 64-bit Ubuntu 23.04 with version 6.2 kernels.

There are a few mentions of this on r/vmware, but no explanations or solutions that I've found.
