Running Windows 2003 vm on Windows 2000 server host

I have a situation in which I would like to isolate a server. The current production server is a HP 3.4Ghz Xeon with dual processors. (Don't ask me why they never install W2k3...it isn't my company.)

In order to isolate a particular application, I am wondering if there are any issues hosting a W2k3 VM on that W2k server. I am concerned that the 2k server OS will not translate the hardware abstraction very well to the W2k3 VM.

Has anyone done this? Any thoughts?

Thanks.

VMware Player on Win2k will present a VMware VM that will be perfectly capable of hosting Win2k3, VMware Player presents the hardware, not the host OS.

I got to know Vista on VMware Workstation on XP, and there are many more examples.
