Retrieve data from VM to new one

So I'm in a pinch. My pc crashed and I had to take the HDD out to connect it to another pc. Is there any way to access the data inside the VM that's from the broken pc? I was doing a project for a class and if I can't get it I'll have to start it all over.

I'm using Workstation Player 16.

Hope someone can help.

@ViBer

What files from your VM do you still have access to?

If you had Workstation Player on your old system and also have it on your new system you should be able to copy or use the original VM files with your new instance.

Welcome to the Community,

If you have VMware Player already installed, you may simply register the VM in VMware Player by opening its .vmx file..

In case you just want to access the file system - assuming it's supported by the host OS - without powering on the VM, you may e.g. download a VMware Workstation Pro evaluation copy, and which lets you mount the virtual disk to the host system.
