Hi,
I just have installed VMWare Player 2 (64bit) on Ubuntu 7.10 (AMD64). Everytime I start a VM I have to accept some license agreements. How can I register for the VMWare Player in order to avoid this? I saw that only a serial number for ACE (which I don't want to buy) can be entered. on www.vmware.com I found no possibility to register for the VMWare Player (and getting a serial number).
Can anyboday help me?
Thanks,
cosimus
Hi,
I'm not familiar with VMware on Linux but on Windows an entry gets put into the VMware preferences.ini file (in Docs & Settings\<user>\Application Data\VMware). I guess something similar happens on Linux. Have a look for such a file - probably in your user area somewhere.
The lines you want in there are:
pref.eula.0.appName = "VMware Player"
pref.eula.0.buildNumber = "45731"
and possibly
webUpdate.checkLast = "1190896033"
webUpdate.lastCheck.status = "done_updates"
where 45731 is the relevant build number for your version of Player.
In Linux, the preferences file is in ~/.vmware/preferences (at least for me, on Ubuntu 8.10 guest, vmplayer 2.5.1)
