Newbie installation

I've installed a VM windows xp from a Ghost 14.0 backup within my win 7 x64 installation and need to get past the Genuine Advantage Screen.  This could be worth it if all my programs are still there once pay up occurs and as my splash screen of XP shows, I assume this will be so, although no icons nor the taskbar show.  Is this the case and can I upgrade to Vista from there should I so decide? The Win 7 x64 install is an upgrade from the XP thru Vista so I wonder if two copies are a problem, even on the same computer, Thanx for any input on this.

I am not sure if you may encounter some problem on your end. I didn't; however, I only upgraded to Win7 32 bit though.

That sounds promising, all your previously installed programs popped up then?  I've a Dell xps and the manufacturer's Windows install disks may be causing the problem with Genuine Advantage, then. Thanx for your input.
