I can't get NAT networking to work in version 2.5, linux host and Win XP guest. When I try to select the networking type from the status bar, I get an error that states "Could not open /dev/vmnet8: no such file or directory. Failer to connect virtual device Ethernet 0."
Bridged networking sort of works, but it only connects with my wireless connection, which is at eth0.
As many here have pointed out, 2.02 let you run vmware-config.pl to change networking settings, but there appears to be no way to make changes in 2.5. I was not presented with any options for networking during the installation.
Please, give us all an answer to these networking problems.
System details:

Thanks
Linux hosts now have a graphical utility for editing the virtual networks, like Windows hosts have had all along.
According to the Workstation manual, it is located at *
/usr/bin/vmware-netcfg
*
Thanks for the reply!
Well I don't seem to have that on my system. I have a vm-support, vmware-acetool, vmware-gksu, vmware-modconfig, vmware-networks, vmware-ping, vmware-remotemks, vmware-uninstall, and vmware-unity-helper.
I looked at vmware-networks, but it only offers the following options:
--postinstall <component-name>,<old-version>,<new-version>
--migrate-network-settings <location of settings file>
--install-host-policy <subnet>,<dhcp=0
--uninstall-host-policy
--start
--stop
--status
So did the install get botched or is this file not being distributed with Player?
