Is it possible to install VMware player on Ubunto JEOS?

I am looking for a minimum install in order to run FreeNAS on a dual Xeon box. FreeNAS does not appear to run on Xeon processors (there are several people on the FreeNAS forum having problems with this). I know that there is a FreeNAS appliance available and so I should be able to run it on the VMware player. However, I have not been able install the VMware player on Ubuntu JEOS. Is this installation even possible or does player require a GUI?

I am a Microsoft Certified Trainer but the last time I worked with Unix/linux was back in the '90s. Any help I can get would be most appreciated.

VMWare Player is a GUI install - I have never heard of it being run without a GUI.

If it is possible someone else will have to address this in the thread.

You need to run a GUI (X Windows)
