How to shrink VM having Workstation Player only

One of the common techniques I've found, is perform SDelete -z , and then perform "hole punching"  using vmkfstools command.

The problem is that vkmkfstools is available only on the CLI of vSphere product.

Is there any alternative method to perform that "hole punching", using VMWare player only?

Or any other way to claim the free space using freeware tools?

Thanks.

Hi,

Hole punching is a vSphere vmfs function and as you say vmkfstools is the tool to use (on vSphere).

On the desktop we use vmware-vdiskmanager and vmware-tools.

See Shrink guest on hosted platform - VI-Toolkit for the steps.
