Guest compatibility info for Player

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but....

I have Player 4.02 installed in Windows 7, and I'm considering installing CentOS 6.2 as a guest. So I go to the compatibility page to find the latest version of CentOS which is supported for this Player release. But Player isn't listed anywhere. There's ESX, Workstation, Server, ACE, etc.

I'd also like to know if I need to upgrade to 4.03 to avoid security issues with some specific guest. Maybe I need to load CentOS5 or something - how do we know?

So where do I go for compatibility info for Player?

Is this platform equivalent to one of the others? For example: "for compatibility, Player 4 is equivalent to Workstation 8"?

http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

Thanks!

Yes, VMware Player and VMware Workstation are the same regarding compatibility.

It's basically up to you. If you are affected by the issues documented in the release notes and/or security advisories, then you should definitely do it.
