GNU C Compiler (gcc) version (null) was not found

Hi, i'm install VMware on Ubuntu 20.04 for the first time, but i encounter this error. But i already have latest gcc 9.3.0 installed. what's the location of gcc?

I have this sam issue in debain. I have gcc-10. When i enter the gcc dir, it says that id on`t have a compatiblle ver of gcc...
