Firewall and Antivirus

I have firewall and antivirus programs installed on my host windows 7 system.  Should I install this protection on my Windows XP guest system also?  Thanks.

If the Virtual Machine has Internet/Network Connectivity then you need to take the same precautions you would if it was a Physical Machine Internet/Network Connectivity especially if the OS is Windows!
