Disabling NAT and other options

Hi!

I am currently working on a project in my organization to distribute VMware Player 2.5.1 Build 126130. We are trying to lock the software as much as we can. We regulate all our software and try to disable any auto updates or manual update notices to standardize the desktop across the organization.

We are currently trying to find a way to disable NAT in Player. We found a way for Workstation (having a hard time to get that to work but that's another story!) but can't seem to find a way for Player. Our security team as well as my team feel that NAT poses too much of a risk to our network and would like to have it disabled or not installed if possible. Does anyone have any ideas on disabling NAT in Player along with disabling updates?

Those who use Player in our organization are using Windows XP Prof with SP2 (some have SP3) .

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you could always remove/disable the VMware network adapters on the host, so that the only connection method which will work is Bridged.

If you want to uninstall nat completely execute this cmd in player directory;

"vnetlib -- uninstall nat"
