Creating new VMs

On page http://www.vmware.com/products/player/ I read that with VMware 3 a user can create new virtual machines.

I downloaded and installed it, but I don't see any option to create new VMs.

The help describes a "New virtual machine wizard": how can I locate and start it?

Should I install any additional component?

Regards

I noticed that the title sounds "VMware ACE Player".

The notebook has a complex history, and in the past hosted either some ACE based VMs, VMware server and earlier versions of VMware Player.

So maybe there is some unwanted setting in the registry or elsewhere.

Given I cannot reinstall it from scratch, how can I clean it up so that VMware Player works with all the expected features?

My guess is that you have an ACE Player serial number entered. If that's the case, you can get rid of the serial number by running "regedit" and looking for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Player\License.player.<various numbers>" and emptying out the "Serial" field. (Note that doing this will prevent you from running some ACE Instance VMs though, so I'd recommend jotting down the serial number before deleting it.)
