Create image/configuration file from preexisting machine

I have seen the documentation on how to install an OS on a virtual machine, but I would like to know how to create an image (or VMware configuration file) from a preexisting server or machine.

I have a Windows Server 2008 that is currently serving as a build machine, and I would like to install Team Foundation Server on this machine. However, I would like to test this installation first on a virual guest duplicating this WIN08 server as it exists. So, I want to take an image of this server, so that I can upload its VMware configuration file to the virtual environment that exists on my development machine. My question is how to create this image or VMware configuration file? Thanks!

Hi and welcome

the latest Converter 4.3 may do that - you would install it on the 2008 and instruct it to create a VM from the running system
