We have an ESX environment consisting of:
vCenter 4.0.0 (build 162856)
ESX Hosts runing 3.5.0 (build 163429)
I have very limited exposure to VMware Player and that was with early versions.
We received a request to make an existing Windows 2008 virtual machine usable with VMware Player.
Is this doable?
Would I just user Converter?
I'm confused on the end result and how to deal with OS licensing and IP information as they proliferate this VMplayer image?
Just looking for some guidelines and information to get me started.
I usually copy the complete directory from the VM on ESX to a host with vmplayer and just run it - without any conversion. Just doubleclick vmx-file ...
This works even when the VM has snapshots though I do not recommend it.
If I run into problems they usually can be cured by a simple vmx or vmdk edit so I amy forget a step here.
Anyway - just try it and come back with error messages.
