Change VMwareDND from TEMP to other location

Hello, first off all Merry Christmas to all and Happy new Year!

In Windows:

When we use drag and drop feature it makes first one copy of desired file into folder VMwareDND that is located in Appdata->Temp folder. After that, vmware copy the file to the final location.

-My question is:

Is it possible to change the location of this folder to another hard drive or force vmware to do direct copy?

Cheers!

Hi,

I don't think that VMware Player has a setting for either of your questions.

It is however very likely that VMware Player is just using the system settings for this.

You can change your temporary folders by setting the respective environment variables %TMP% and %TEMP%

In order to do so:

- Go to System page via rightclick on menu or via control panel

- Advanced System Settings

- tab page "Advanced"

- button "Environment variables"

Change variables "TMP" and "TEMP" to where you want your temporary folder to be,

You will have to reboot Windows in order to use the new settings.

Hope this helps,

You can use shared folder instead to bypass the need to copy to TEMP folder. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workstation-Pro/16.0/com.vmware.ws.using.doc/GUID-D6D9A5FD-7F5F-4C...
