Can I use VMWare Player in a company environment?

Hi, just want to understand if it will cause any license issue if I use vmware player in a company environment? I noticed there is 2 version of eula:

1. http://www.vmware.com/download/eula/player2.html, which explicitly indicate that "VMware Player is intended for your own personal non-commercial use only"

2. http://www.vmware.com/download/eula/player.html , which does not mentioned whether VMware Player can be used for commerical usage.

Basically, we are trying to use vmware player with some handy OS images for software development purpose in my company, I want to know if that is legal application of vmware player.

I would like to appreciated that if you can send the answer to my mail box: greenlaw110@gmail.com

Thanks in advance,

Green

Hi,

VMware Player is the free product of VMware. But you need VMware Workstation or VMware Server to create a VM. Do you have any VM for use of Player?

By the way, I don't have any idea of commercial or personal use.

If you type "vmware player create image" in google search box, u get a lot

of blogs, articles, forum discussions on how to create vmware image with

vmware player.

Basically, here is my steps to create windows XP image using vmware player:

1. create an empty disk file (*.vmdk) using QEMU (which is open source). I

created an empty 2MB file which can be expanded to 30GB.

2. create my vmware config file (*.vmx), add some entries, including one for

load an iso file (in my case, it's windows XP installation disk)

3. start the vmware image by double clicking it, it will boot from the iso

file. Now u can install the windows to the empty disk file u created.

What I am concerned is whether it will cause any legal or license issue if I

use VMware Player in a commercial environment in this way.
