CPU Requirements not met?

My first attempt at installing VMWare open source workstation on Linux I am getting

The host CPU does not support the necessary hardware requirements.
If you Ignore this message to proceed with installation,
you may not be able to launch virtual machines on this host.
For details, please refer to the following Knowledge Base article:
https://kb.vmware.com/kb/51643

I have a Intel Core Duo, and as far as I can tell https://kb.vmware.com/kb/51643 is fine with it.

Do we know why it warned?

I aborted the install; but should I go ahead and install

Thanks

Intel dropped the Core Duo naming in favour of the i5/i7 naming around 2009.

So a Core Duo CPU would not be supported with versions 14.x/15.x/16.x.

You can confirm the CPU model from Terminal

cat proc/cpuinfo | grep 'model name'

You can look up the model name at https://ark.intel.com
