AVG firewall blocking Player 3.1

I'm a newb, so forgive me if I've missed something simple and stupid!

I've installed VMware Player 3.1 on a Win7 x64 system. I'm running OpenVPN's access server in the virtual machine.

An exception was made automatically for vmplayer.exe with Allow for All rule in AVG full (not free) firewall.

With the Firewall on I can ping the IP for the Ubuntu virtual machine that is the OpenVPN server, both from the host computer as well as from a seperate computer.

BUT, I cannot browse to the Appliance Management interface (https://vmware_as_IP-address:5480) nor to the OpenVPN Access Server Admin web UI (https://vmware_as_IP-address:943/admin) when the firewall is on. ((https://192.168.0.15:5480; https://192.168.0.15:943/admin)

When I disable AVG, then the web pages load fine.

The entire IP range for the internal network range of 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255 is defined in AVG as SAFE. As noted earlier, vmplayer.exe is already also noted as a safe application.

Any thoughts or suggestions about what I'm missing or what I need to add to allow local access to the Administration web pages for my OpenVPN server in VMware Player?

Thank you for any suggestions and help!

Cheers,

PopeyeTom

PS - I did search the knowledge base here, but didn't find anything that gave me any clues! I too am frustrated by people that posts on forums where the answer is already in a FAQ...I did try!

I found a solution to this.  In the AVG firewall tools/settings you must click the "Enable Virtual Machines Bridged networking" for the profile that is enable for the virtual machine traffic to make it out.
