64 bit vm

I have a 64 bit computer running 64 bit windows 7, I downloaded the latest VMWare player and tried to load a 64 bit OS into a new virtual machine but I get a message that my processor does not support 64 bit.   What gives?  Is the basic free player not capable of running 64 bit OSes?

Thanks for all and any comments.

64-bit guest support requires more than a 64-bit processor.  If it's an Intel processor, it must support VT-x.  If it's an AMD processor, it must support segment limit checks in 64-bit mode or AMD-V.  See KB 1003945.

Thanks J;

I should have figured that out myself.  I went through the same problem about a year ago when I tried to build a Hyper-V server.   Guess I gotta shop for a new processor for this machine.

thanks again.
