64 bit linux redhat on 32 bit xp professional on Vmware player

I have 32 bit XP host and installed VMware player 3.0.

I am trying to install 64 bit Linux redhat but the system does not allow me to.

I turned on VT in BIOS.

But still the same problem. I shut down the machine, took the cable off, even left it for one night all that good stuff but it still gives me the same error.

I have T-60 Lenovo.

Could you please help with this.

Also I read somewhere that I need to enable 'Execute disable' but I could not find it.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Som

I don't recommend using 64 bit virtual machines on 32 bit hosts, because the 64 bit guest can only be allocated about the half of the memory the 32 bit host has available. The host operating system is in this case the limiting factor.

Thanks Tom.

Currently I need to do a POC for my team and hence using such configuration.

But I am still not able to make it work and also could locate the config file. Although the 32 bit guest is running fine with no problems. But I need 64 bit guest for a software demonstration which could only be installed on 64 bit.

Any more workarounds. Thanks so much for all your help.

Regards,

Som

64bit VMs can run fine on 32 bit host-systems - no need to worry about that.

Your problem is likely your CPU - did you read my last post ?
