Re vmware-installer.zip

Tywin, Surprisingly, some of those errors do not cause the install to fail. One I don't see on my own system is this:

[2018-02-07 12:40:58,627] Error running command: ['update-desktop-database']

Can you execute update-desktop-database on the command line? Running it on my system gave errors that showed up in the install log but it appears your installation didn't get this far.

Is it possible there's an older version of VMRC installed? What does this command return?:

vmware-installer -l

@debian:

# vmware-installer -l

bash: vmware-installer: Kommando nicht gefunden.

Which says: Command not found.

And the Ubuntu was freshly installed.

I forgot to mention that VMRC 10 is not supported on Debian (see release notes). However it should work on Ubuntu 16.

Do you see errors in the logs?

  • /var/log/vmware-installer
  • /var/log/vmware/

Yes, it appears, that there are several errors, but I cannot see, which makes the install fail. Will attach the log files, that were created.

Thankx for your help so far!

Hi again,

thank you for uploading the Remote Console 9.0.

I tried to install this one on my Ubuntu 16.04.03, but it also failed.

I attached the installer-log.

So if anybody can help, I would appreciate that!

It appears, that update-desktop-database was not installed by default.

After an apt-get install desktop-file-utils VMware Remote Console 10.0.2 installs without error.

It also works, although the Guest-OS (Win 10) is displayed in a 676x480 resolution (VMwaretools installed), but this is another subject.

Thank you for your help!

This is still required for Debian 10.1.
