vLAN statistics in vCenter

Is it possible to get statistics on statistics like throughput and latency per an individual vLAN in vCenter, assuming that vLAN is tagged to one and only one port group?

Afaik, you can have network related metrics per pNIC (on the ESXi node level) and vNIC (on the VM level).

Since a VM's vNIC connects to a portgroup, and a portgroup is connected with a specific VLAN (i'm talking VSS here), you could follow that path.

In summary:

  • get all VMs
  • get network metrics for all VMs
  • group the returned counters per portgroup
  • summarise/average to get the numbers per VLAN
